National Association of Ticket Brokers Helps Consumer with Secondary Market
The National Association of Ticket Brokers (NATB) has heard consumer stories with regard to experiences encountered while buying second market tickets. In order to help the consumer better understand best practices of the industry, the NATB recommends the following 'Dos and Don'ts Tip Sheet.
WHEN PURCHASING TICKETS ON THE SECONDARY MARKET-DO:
(1) Ask if the person is a licensed broker, and ask to see the license (if possible.)
(2) Check to see if the broker is a member of the National Association of Ticket Brokers.
(3) Use a credit card or another secure type of payment (provides better protection than cash.)
(4) Use brokers who operate from a fixed place of business (storefront) -a requirement for all NATB members.
(5) Verify the location of the seats on a seating chart, to avoid being misled into purchasing obstructed view seats or seats that do not exist.
(6) If you purchase a counterfeit ticket, immediately report it to the NATB's hotline at 1-630-510-4594
WHEN PURCHASING TICKETS ON THE SECONDARY MARKET-DON'T:
(1) Use cash
(2) Buy tickets from unsecured Internet sites.
(3) Buy tickets from anyone selling tickets on the street, or in front of the venue.
(4) Work with ticket scalpers who are unregulated, unlicensed ticket sellers.
